Karl Foster is an attorney who practices in a wide variety of legal fields. His areas of concentration are chapter 7 bankruptcy, chapter 13 bankruptcy, landlord/tenant, and business law.
Attorney Foster is licensed in the State of Wisconsin and the Eastern District of Wisconsin Federal Courts. He routinely practices in both State and Federal Court in Milwaukee. In the past, he has also practiced criminal prosecution in the State Courts of Iowa with a particular focus on traffic and possession cases.
Karl attended Iowa State University where he earned a double major BA in philosophy and psychology in 2008. From there he moved to the University of Iowa where he received his Juris Doctorate in 2011. Later that same year, he completed a Master of the Arts Degree in Philosophy also at the University of Iowa.
After moving to Milwaukee’s East Side shortly after finishing his studies, Karl began to explore all the City had to offer. What he found was a culture and community that called to meshed perfectly with his ideal city. During this time, Karl worked with reviewed debt transactions for banks, and assisted small law firms with bankruptcy filing. In addition, he worked as a Professor of Philosophy for a local college where he taught logic and critical thinking.
After two years, Karl moved to Riverwest. Soon after talking with the other residents he realized that many people of Riverwest had legal issues, but no neighborhood counselor they could seek out for advice. Karl spoke with his friend and colleague Attorney Brendan Corcoran and together they opened Riverwest Law Firm on January 1, 2015.
Karl is a member of various boards and committees in the Riverwest neighborhood and an active participant in many community programs.
Karl Foster was a finalist in Shepherd Express’s Best of Milwaukee 2018 for the Business Lawyer category. He strives to provide the best business advice to the Riverwest neighborhood and he pushes for the neighborhood to continue to grow.
